All they ask for.

So the other day O'Brien laughed at the thought of me posting rap on sussudio. Well today I stumbled across the new single from N.E.R.D. and even though I describe my music collection as eclectic...this is the closest I will ever come to posting "rap".

Oh and Pharrell is a babe.

Now walk it out.

A few years ago I borrowed my friends brother's Jurassic 5 CD because I needed something to listen to in my car. It was a random CD selection but I loved listening to it and played it for weeks. I had forgotten all about that group until this past weekend when I made a mix for the pool.

Artist: Jurassic 5 feat. DMB
Song: Work It Out

Monday morning.

I am trying to stay motivated to make it through working the rest of the summer. It is Monday and I have to say I have no desire to go to work for the next week. I want to fast forward to this coming holiday weekend when my stress is derived from having too many fun activities to pick from. Why can't we all just vacation for the summer, the entire summer?

I'll go my own way.

I have just started to discover the electronic artist, Amanda Warner. So far so good...obviously or else I wouldn't post it. A lot of the songs have slow starts but really open up after a bit. I only wish I had more songs by this artist to listen to.

Favorites: Fade to Black, Jump In,

I think it's good to go out...

Slither away.

I was going to save this for a rainy day, but seeing as Louisville is never going to have one I decided to go on and share this with the world. Plus every time I watch this I giggle to myself.

Here is the deal. If you know me then you probably know my friend Stephanie and if that is the case then you know how ridiculously awesome she is. This is a really old video of a concert we went to where Stephanie and I danced on stage with the band. Lucky for me my dance moves were not caught on video; however, Stephanie was not quite as lucky. Watch the video....see the girl bouncing in the orange rain coat? Welp that is Stephanie. A bouncy bouncy baby gurl.

Oh and the band's name is Slithering Beast. Just in case anyone is actually listening to the music in the video and curious.

At least you got something to fall back on.

What I'm listening to right now.

Talk about dreamy.

Seriously dreamy. First release from Ray LaMontagne's next album due out in August. Funny note, I actually rate a lot of music by whether I would want to play it while driving down river road. Not much can make me feel more content than a drive along the river with the windows down and music playing. This is river road drive worthy. LaMontagne's rustic voice and simplified guitar don't abuse the listeners ear, and that is something that will keep me coming back for years to come.

Dawson's world.

So I have become quite fond of doing shout outs on sussudio. We are all influenced by the music around us and a lot of that music comes from our friends....my friend Dawson made O'Brien and me a set of CDs for our road trip down to Atlanta. For some reason I love to pick favorites in life so of course I have a favorite song from the CDs.

Track 1 from Circle of Life Mix 1.

Artist: The Avalanches
Song: Since I Left You

Working for the weekend.

As long as he is still making music I will still be listening.

Artist: Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers
Song: I Should Have Known It

You got this, right?

OK so I know I am not the only one who thinks this song sounds familiar. I keep listening to it thinking that I have heard it somewhere before. It must be in a commercial....now who can tell me which one?

sleepyhead dreams to all!

See the champions, take the field now.

So obviously it is world cup time, and you have to be pretty blind not to watch/read coverage about the ongoing tournament. I'm not a crazy fan, but of course I have heard South Africa's official song for the cup. My sister introduced me to the artist K'naan last year with his song "Dreamer". From there I have picked up some ultimate pump-up favorites. So since it is Monday here is your optimistic mood playlist for the week featuring all that is K'naan.

1. In The Beginning
2. Waving flag
3. Dreamer
4. ABC's
5. Soobax

Listen to all these songs below.

LAND RED DOWN

All artwork in this post is by Lisa Solberg
http://www.lisasolberg.com/

There is this artist, Lisa Solberg, that I stalk. Yeah creepy I know, but she is just so cool. She does large scale paintings that I absolutely adore. I mean 73" x 135" ...large. They are the type of paintings you think you could imitate, maybe on a smaller scale, until you realize how many layers, strokes, and materials go into each piece. I'm sure I could try to make something similar but the level of emotion and contrast would never match up. This won't stop be from trying, but I'm just saying I would rather have an original Lisa Solberg piece than a rainbow swirled Beth Blasi.

Oh and a while back I contacted her to get a list of current for sale pieces and prices. Welp, lets just say that I will more likely be owning a rainbowed Beth Blasi , because her artwork ranges between 10-20 grand.

To get the full process and appreciation you need to watch this video.

Oh and of course!

I've got a mild fascination

.....for collectors.

One thing I would like to point out. Most of the time my titles for posts are lyrics from the song or artist I am posting about. If it is not a lyric then it means nothing, really. I'm a very random person so sometimes random lines just pop in my head...you can't control what the mind does.

Fa fa l’americano.

Ok so this past weekend I went down to Atlanta to visit some friends. We went lazy tubing down the Chattahoochee River, ate some aweeeeeesome grub, and laughed every moment of the day...literally. My friend David declared this song as his summer jam last week, but it was not until this weekend that I realized it was pretty catchy. You really need to just let it play to get the full effect. Thank you David for getting your summer jam stuck in our heads.

Artist: Yolanda Be Cool vs. Dcup
Song: We No Speak Americano

I can't help but think of Mambo Italiano whenever I listen to this song, so I included that as well. Just fast forward to Dean Martin if you want to eat pizza and feel Italian.

Take me home country road.

I'm slightly obsessed with my walking my dog 1) because I'm just plain obsessed with my dog 2) because I get to listen to music when I walk. You might guess that while I walk I do a lot of thinking, but you are wrong. I honestly don't think about much at all, and that is the number one reason I love it. I seriously just listen to music and let it play louder than my thoughts. As long as I have good music I'm in my happy place and I can walk forever.
